HATS-27 is a single-star system 2660 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The host is an F-type star, a class hotter than the Sun's G type, with a reported temperature of 6440 K, which is hotter than the Sun's. Its reported mass of 1.42 solar masses and radius of 1.74 solar radii are both larger than the Sun's, and it is 2.3 billion years old.
The planet HATS-27 b is a Jupiter-like world, a size class meaning its radius exceeds four times Earth's. It was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. HATS-27 b orbits every 4.64 days. Its radius of 16.8 Earth radii and its mass of 168 Earth masses are both larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.195 g/cm³, 0.0354 times Earth's.
