HATS-14 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

HATS-14 is a star located 1670 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 4.9 billion years old, with a mass of 0.967 solar masses and a radius of 0.933 solar radii. Its temperature is 5350 K. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet HATS-14 b was discovered in 2015 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class for planets exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. HATS-14 b has a mass of 340 Earth masses and a radius of 11.6 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, as is its reported mass estimate. Its mass is roughly 1.07 times Jupiter's mass. HATS-14 b orbits its star every 2.77 days. Its mean density is 1.19 g/cm³, 0.215 times Earth's.
