HAT-P-65 is a G-type star 2410 light-years away. It is 5.46 billion years old, with a mass of 1.21 solar masses, a radius of 1.86 solar radii, and a temperature of 5840 K. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, as is its reported radius estimate, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.
That planet is HAT-P-65 b, discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Jupiter-like planet, a class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius of 18.1 Earth radii is larger than Earth's, and its mass of 176 Earth masses is likewise larger than Earth's. HAT-P-65 b completes an orbit every 2.61 days. Its mean density is 0.165 g/cm³, 0.0299 times Earth's.
