HAT-P-36 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

HAT-P-36 is a star 960 light-years away with a spectral type of G5 V, a G-type main-sequence dwarf. It has an age of 4.5 billion years, a mass of 1.03 solar masses, a radius of 1.04 solar radii, and a temperature of 5620 K. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is HAT-P-36 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2011. It has a mass of 587 Earth masses, roughly 1.85 times Jupiter's mass, and a radius of 14.3 Earth radii. Both its reported mass estimate and its reported radius estimate are larger than Earth's. Its orbital period is 1.33 days. Its mean density is 1.1 g/cm³, 0.2 times Earth's.
