HAT-P-33 b: A Distant Jupiter-like World

HAT-P-33 is an F4 star located 1290 light-years away. Its reported mass is 1.4 solar masses, its radius is 1.67 solar radii, and its temperature is 6640 K. The star's mass and radius estimates are both larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter than the Sun's. F4 places it in a hotter spectral class than the Sun's G-type.

One planet is known to orbit this host: HAT-P-33 b, discovered by the transit method in 2011. It is classified as Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. Its measured radius of 20.7 Earth radii is larger than Earth's, and its measured mass of 292 Earth masses is likewise larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.181 g/cm³, 0.0328 times Earth's. The planet completes an orbit in 3.47 days.
