HAT-P-14 and Its Giant Planet

HAT-P-14 is an F5 V star located 726 light-years away. It is a main-sequence dwarf with a mass of 1.32 solar masses and a radius of 1.53 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's corresponding values. Its temperature of 6580 K is hotter than the Sun's, and its age is 1.6 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, HAT-P-14 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2010. It has a mass of 1090 Earth masses, roughly 3.44 times Jupiter's mass, and a radius of 15.9 Earth radii, placing it well above the Jupiter-like threshold of four Earth radii. Its mean density is 1.49 g/cm³, which is 0.271 times Earth's. HAT-P-14 b completes each orbit in 4.63 days.
