GPX-1 b: A Jupiter-like World in a Distant Star System

GPX-1 is an F2 star 2140 light-years away. Its reported mass estimate is 1.68 solar masses, its radius estimate is 1.56 solar radii, and its temperature is 7000 K. The star is hotter than the Sun, and both its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's. It is 0.27 billion years old. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is GPX-1 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2021. With a radius of 16.5 Earth radii, it is larger than Earth. Its mass is 6260 Earth masses, also larger than Earth and roughly 19.7 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 7.71 g/cm³, 1.4 times Earth's. GPX-1 b completes an orbit in 1.74 days.
