GJ 625 and Its Planet

GJ 625 is a red dwarf of spectral type M2, located 21.1 light-years away. Its mass is 0.3 solar masses, its radius is 0.31 solar radii, and its temperature is 3500 K, making it smaller, smaller in radius, and cooler than the Sun. One planet is known to orbit this star.

GJ 625 b was discovered in 2017 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. The planet has a minimum mass of 2.82 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass that is larger than Earth's. Its orbital period is 14.6 days.
