GJ 1265 b: A Close-In World Around a Small Red Dwarf

GJ 1265 is an M4.5 V star, a small, cool red dwarf, located 33.4 light-years away. Its reported mass is 0.178 solar masses and its reported radius is 0.192 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. The star's reported temperature is 3240 K, cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, GJ 1265 b, was discovered in 2018 by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Its minimum mass is 7.4 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, and its orbital period is 3.65 days.
