CoRoT-5 and Its Transiting Planet

CoRoT-5 is a star 2880 light-years away with one known planet, CoRoT-5 b. The host is an F9 V star with a mass of 1 solar masses, a radius of 1.19 solar radii, and a temperature of 6100 K, hotter than the Sun. Its age is 6.9 billion years, and its radius is larger than the Sun's.

CoRoT-5 b was discovered by transit in 2009. This Jupiter-like planet has a radius of 15.6 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and a mass of 148 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 4.04 days. Its mean density is 0.217 g/cm³, 0.0394 times Earth's.
