CoRoT-22 is a G3 V star located 2050 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is a main-sequence dwarf with a mass of 1.1 solar masses and a radius of 1.14 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's corresponding values. Its temperature of 5940 K is hotter than the Sun's, and its age is 3.3 billion years.
The single planet, CoRoT-22 b, was discovered by transit in 2014. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. CoRoT-22 b is a Jupiter-like planet, a class defined by a radius exceeding four times Earth's. Its radius is 4.88 Earth radii and its mass is 12.2 Earth masses, both larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 9.76 days. Its mean density is 0.578 g/cm³, which is 0.105 times Earth's.
