47 UMa: A Sun-Like Star With Three Giant Worlds

47 UMa is a G0V star 45 light-years away. Its host system contains three planets, all discovered by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. The star is a Sun-like dwarf with an age of 6.48 billion years, a mass of 1.06 solar masses, a radius of 1.24 solar radii, and a temperature of 5880 K. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

47 UMa b was discovered in 1996. It has a minimum mass of 804 Earth masses - a lower bound on its true mass - which is larger than Earth's and roughly 2.53 times Jupiter's mass. Its orbital period is 1080 days, the shortest year among the listed planets. 47 UMa c, discovered in 2001, has a minimum mass of 172 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, and the smallest minimum mass among the listed planets. Its orbital period is 2390 days, the second-shortest year among the listed planets.

47 UMa d, discovered in 2009, has a minimum mass of 521 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 1.64 times Jupiter's mass. Among the listed planets it has the second-smallest minimum mass. Its orbital period is 14000 days, the longest year among the listed planets.
