Planet 24 Boo b: A Giant World Orbiting a Sun-Like Star

24 Boo is a G-type star located 313 light-years from Earth. Its spectral type, G3 IV, places it in the same broad temperature class as the Sun. The star is 6.92 billion years old and contains 0.99 solar masses of material, making it slightly less massive than the Sun. Its radius is 10.6 solar radii, larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is 4890 K, cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this star.

That planet, 24 Boo b, was discovered in 2018 using the radial velocity method, which detects the gravitational wobble a planet induces in its star. Its minimum mass is 281 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, though as a minimum mass this value represents a lower bound on the planet's true mass rather than an exact figure. The planet completes one orbit every 30.3 days.
