GJ 27.1 and Its Planet

GJ 27.1 is a star 77 light-years from Earth. Its spectral type is M0.5 V, and its reported mass estimate is 0.516 solar masses and its reported radius estimate is 0.519 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. Its reported temperature is 3690 K, cooler than the Sun's.

One planet is known to orbit this star. GJ 27.1 b was discovered in 2014 by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion; repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. The planet has a minimum mass of 13 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 15.8 days. That minimum mass is a lower bound on the planet's true mass.
